DR Power Equipment is recalling more than 40,000 walk-behind trimmer mowers in the United States and Canada because grass and debris can accumulate inside and ignite, posing a risk of serious injury or death.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary safety recall of DR Power Equipment Pilot and Premier Trimmer Mowers on Oct. 8, 2026.

The recall was made due to the possibility that grass and debris could "accumulate in the trimmer mowers and ignite, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fire and burn hazards," the CPSC said.

Approximately 42,860 of the affected walk-behind mowers were sold, 340 of which were sold in Canada.

The CPSC reported that the company has received 19 reports of incidents involving the "trimmer mowers catching fire." Of those incidents, there were two reports of minor injuries such as blisters on hands and feet.

The recalled products are orange and black trimmer mowers with the DR Power logo on the top of the motor and on the top of the frame above the cutter head. Each mower is labeled "Premier" or "Pro" on the side of the frame.

The mowers were sold at Ace, TSC, Bomgaars and other home improvement, hardware and independent power equipment stores nationwide from November 2022 through July 2026 for between $380 and $550. They were also sold online at drpower.com.

The recalled Pilot and Premier mowers include those with the following model numbers: T4X1076DMN, T4X1076DMNR, T4X1076DMNSD, T4X1176DMN, T4X1176DMN-1, T4X1176DMNR, TR43076DMN and TR43076DMNR. All serial numbers for these models are included in the recall.

The model number is printed on a label on the side of the product’s frame.

Consumers in possession of the recalled trimmer mowers are instructed to stop using the product immediately and contact DR Power Equipment for a free repair kit.

Once an order for a remedy kit is placed, customers should receive an email confirmation and have their request reviewed within two weeks.

If consumers have further questions or concerns about installing the repair kit, they are encouraged to contact DR Power Equipment to schedule a free repair installation from an authorized dealer.

For more information, contact DR Power Equipment at 800-854-3194 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday. Consumers can also email [email protected] or visit DRPower.com/recalls.

This is the latest in a series of recent recalls over fire risks. Novello Desserts reported earlier this month that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled Kobayashi and Gobi Heat hand warmers because their lithium-ion batteries can overheat and ignite.
