"The addition of Seville further bolsters Air Canada's growing global network and cements Air Canada as the largest airline by seats offered between Canada and Spain," said Mark Galardo, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, and president of cargo, at Air Canada.
"As the only non-stop service between the city and North America, Air Canada's new service will unlock more of Andalusia and the world for our customers and Aeroplan Members while delivering a step-change in global connectivity for Seville."
Galardo added that the route, "enabled by the next-generation capabilities of our expanding Airbus A321XLR fleet, Seville builds upon recent additions to Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife and marks another unique Air Canada destination in Southern Europe."
The service will be timed to connect through Air Canada's Montreal hub, providing smooth access to destinations across North America, the Caribbean and Latin America.
International travellers connecting to the United States can use U.S. customs preclearance in Montreal, allowing them to arrive at their final destination as domestic passengers.
"ADM Aéroports de Montréal is delighted with this new direct route to Seville, one of Spain's most iconic cities," said Karl Brochu, ADM's vice president of airport operations and air services development.
"The addition of this destination, operated by our partner Air Canada, helps strengthen YUL's role as an international gateway to Canada."
José Luis Sanz, the mayor of Sevilla, called the announcement a historic step for the city's international connectivity.
"For the first time, our city will have a direct transoceanic connection that will link us to Canada and strengthen our ties with North America," Sanz said.
"This connection marks a new chapter for Sevilla, as it will facilitate tourism, business, trade, and cultural exchanges and help strengthen our position as a major economic and tourist hub in Southern Europe."
Isabel Martín Benítez, consul for tourism affairs at the Embassy of Spain in Canada, said she is confident Canadian travellers will fall in love with Seville.
"I am confident that Canadian travellers will fall in love with Seville, a city with a unique culture and vibrant spirit, and that this new route will open up opportunities to discover the many wonderful places Andalusia has to offer," she said.
Yves Lalumière, CEO of Tourisme Montréal, said the development of air connectivity is a key driver in sustaining Montréal's appeal and competitiveness.
"This new direct flight between Montréal and Seville is a significant addition to the city's air travel options," Lalumière said.
"By improving the destination's accessibility, particularly during the winter season, this new route helps support our year-round tourism growth strategy and enhance Montréal's visibility in international markets."
The Seville route complements other new Europe routes from Montreal announced for summer 2027, including Basel-Mulhouse and Dubrovnik, plus the extension of service to Tenerife, Lima and Guatemala City to year-round.
