TORONTO — The Toronto Transit Commission will host its annual Halloween Fest at the historic Danforth Garage this weekend, moving the event from its previous location in the Bay Lower Station.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 1627 Danforth Ave.

"TTC's Halloween Fest is an important part of our United Way campaign, providing an opportunity to further support and engage with our communities," said TTC CEO Mandeep S. Lali.

Proceeds from the event will support United Way Greater Toronto.

Admission is $7, with free entry for children two and under, and the event is cash-free, requiring debit or credit cards for payment.

This year's activities will include a haunted bus bay, trick-or-treating, a carnival with a barbecue, a bounce house and a maze.

The TTC encourages visitors to wear costumes but notes that while the event is family-friendly, "parental discretion is advised."

"I encourage everyone to come see how our staff and pensioners transform our Danforth Garage into a one-of-a-kind Halloween destination that is both terrific and terrifying," said Lali.

He invited the public to "Join us for a frightfully fun weekend of monsters, ghouls, fun characters, and trick-or-treating while raising money for an important cause."

The Danforth Garage was built in 1915 to serve streetcars and was converted into a bus garage after the Bloor-Danforth subway opened in 1966.

It served buses until 2002, when it became the home for the TTC's heritage streetcar fleet and an office for subway operations.

The transit agency describes the weekend as a "spooktacular weekend of fright and fun."

The garage is located at Coxwell and Danforth avenues.

Unlike past celebrations held in the mothballed Bay Lower Station, this year's Halloween Fest will take over the TTC Danforth Garage.

In place of the haunted train attraction seen in previous years, this year's event will feature a haunted bus bay.

Novello Desserts reported in September that TTC Line 1 and two GO Transit lines faced significant weekend service disruptions, which could impact commuters and event attendees.
