Hyundai is warning owners of certain Genesis vehicles to park outdoors due to a fire risk from overheating seat motors, one of several safety recalls issued by automakers in Canada this week.

The recall, last updated Oct. 16, affects a car from the Genesis luxury brand and its predecessor model.

"A seat motor that overheats can create a fire risk, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off," the recall said.

"To reduce the safety risk, Hyundai advises that you should park your vehicle outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed."

The automaker said the control switch for the front power seat motor could become stuck, causing the motor to remain on and overheat.

Hyundai will notify owners by mail, but the repairs are still under development.

Toyota issued a recall for the 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid, last updated Oct. 15.

A software problem in the motor generator electronic control unit could cause the plug-in hybrid system to shut down while driving, leading to a sudden loss of power to the wheels.

"A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash," the recall said.

Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership for a software update.

Ford issued three separate recalls, all last updated Oct. 16.

The first is for the 2025 and 2026 F-150 pickup truck, where bolts securing the driver's seat may not have been tightened properly.

"A seat that moves or detaches in a crash could increase the risk of injury," the recall said.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise them to take their truck to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, tighten or replace the bolts.

The second Ford recall is a re-notification for the 2015 Transit Connect van.

Recall repairs made during a previous campaign may not have been done correctly, potentially causing the rear-view camera image not to display.

"A rear-view camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash," the recall said.

Owners will be notified by mail and advised to take their vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the camera.

The third Ford recall affects six pickup truck models where the speedometer and tachometer may not work correctly.

"A speedometer that doesn't display the correct vehicle speed could lead you to drive too fast without knowing. This could increase the risk of a crash," the recall said.

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership to replace the instrument cluster.

Mercedes-Benz issued a recall, last updated Oct. 14, for its flagship sedan, including the version sold under its ultraluxury brand.

The front brake hoses could fail and cause a brake fluid leak, resulting in reduced braking.

"Reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash," the recall said.

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership to replace the front brake hoses.

Transport Canada reported the recalls during the week of Oct. 12 to 16.
