Redpath sugar recalled in Ontario and Quebec after metal pieces found
The 20-kilogram bags are intended for use by hotels, restaurants and institutions.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has recalled Redpath Medium Sugar after pieces of metal were found in the product, which was distributed in Ontario and Quebec.
The recall applies to 20-kilogram packages with UPC 00062847030053 and code R6275.
The agency says the sugar, intended for use by hotels, restaurants and institutions, should not be used, sold, served or distributed.

"The CFIA says the affected sugar should not be used, sold, served or distributed," the agency said.
The recall is classified as a Class 2 recall.
"A Class 2 designation is used by the CFIA for recalls where use of or exposure to a product may cause temporary adverse health consequences, or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is considered remote," the notice explains.
The recall is being carried out by Redpath Sugar Ltd., with an official recall date of Oct. 8, 2026. The federal government's notification was published Oct. 9.
"Because the affected product is a 20-kilogram package aimed at hotels, restaurants and institutions, businesses and food-service operators are being advised to check their supplies for the affected UPC and product code," the CFIA notice states.
Only the specific Redpath Medium Sugar product identified in the recall notification is listed as affected.
The CFIA categorizes the issue as “extraneous material” involving pieces of metal.
The federal notice does not provide additional details about how the metal entered the product or whether any injuries have been reported.
The recall has been assigned identification number RA-82762 and CFIA identification number 17598.
