Air Canada Rouge’s seasonal flights from Toronto to St. Kitts have resumed, marking the earliest start to the service since it began. Flight AC1856 arrived on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, weeks ahead of the previous season's start date of Nov. 15. The St. Kitts Tourism Authority said the early return is a key step toward achieving year-round air connectivity with Canada. Officials stated that expanding the seasonal service is essential to build demand and create more opportunities for tourism growth.

"This milestone represents an important step towards our ultimate goal of year-round air connectivity with Canada," the tourism authority said in a statement. The authority added that it remains focused on strategically growing the Canadian market by working with airline and tourism partners to increase visitor arrivals. "Today, we celebrate more than the return of a flight," the statement said. "We celebrate progress, stronger partnerships and new opportunities."

The early start follows a surge in interest from Canadian travellers. In 2025, St. Kitts was second on Skyscanner’s Trending Destinations list for Canadians, with online searches for the destination increasing by 170 percent. Tourism Minister Marsha T. Henderson has previously noted that Canadians have the longest length of stay of any visitors to St. Kitts. The island ended 2025 with nearly 170,000 visitors, a six percent increase from the previous year, and has set a target of increasing total arrivals by 10 percent in 2026.

Air Canada has been flying to St. Kitts since 2011, and for many years it was the only scheduled direct flight from Canada. The seasonal service's expansion is part of a broader push by Caribbean destinations to attract Canadian visitors during the winter months. Air Canada has been expanding its winter network as research shows Canadians are seeking new travel escapes. The tourism authority's statement emphasized that increasing seasonal flights is essential to improve accessibility and create more opportunities. "Expanding the seasonal service is key to building demand, strengthening accessibility and creating greater opportunities for tourism growth," the statement read. The authority said it is working to position St. Kitts as a preferred Caribbean getaway for Canadian travellers. This early resumption of flights has resulted in a continued rise in St. Kitts' popularity among Canadians. The service's return was noted by local media outlet Kittian Heartbeat as a significant milestone in the vision of providing year-round air services to Canada. The post from Kittian Heartbeat reiterated the tourism authority's focus on growing the market through close collaboration with airline and tourism partners.
