Loblaw opens new grocery and pharmacy stores across Canada
The retailer opened a Pharmaprix and Maxi in Quebec, No Frills in Alberta and Newfoundland, and set a date for a Superstore on Tsuut'ina Nation.
Loblaw Companies opened new grocery and pharmacy stores in four provinces this week, including a first Pharmaprix in Quebec's Beauce region and new No Frills locations in Alberta and Newfoundland. The retailer also set a Nov. 26 opening date for a Real Canadian Superstore developed with the Tsuut'ina Nation near Calgary. Each opening was accompanied by donations to local community groups, and the new stores feature expanded local product selections and modern designs.
In Saint-Georges, Que., a new Pharmaprix, which operates as Shoppers Drug Mart, opened alongside a new Maxi store. The Pharmaprix at 17330 Lacroix Boulevard includes a Pharmacy Care Clinic and is led by pharmacist-owner Senamin Skevie Ahouansou. The adjacent Maxi at 17340 Lacroix Boulevard offers fresh produce, meats and local cheeses, and introduces an expanded range of products from suppliers like Miel d'Émilie and Aliments Bégin. Store manager Jean-Philippe Deschamps presented a $2,500 donation to Moisson Beauce on opening day.
In Lethbridge, Alta., Brad & Briana's No Frills opened at 2920 26 Avenue South. The store provides a full grocery selection including produce, an in-store bakery and multicultural foods. Owners Brad and Briana Prochnau have more than a decade of retail experience. The store donated $1,000 to the Lethbridge Food Bank and $1,000 to The Last Chance Cat Ranch to mark its opening and will participate in the Loop program to redirect unsold food to local farms.

Another No Frills opened in Paradise, N.L., at 1641 Topsail Road, becoming the banner's second location in the community. The store offers fresh meat, baked goods and everyday essentials. Store owner Russell Hamlyn has over 25 years of experience with Loblaw. To celebrate the grand opening, Russell & Lee's No Frills donated $750 to Rovers Search and Rescue and $750 to the Kin Club of Paradise.
Loblaw confirmed its Real Canadian Superstore at Buffalo Run on Tsuut'ina Nation will open on Nov. 26. The company said it is the first such store in Alberta developed in close consultation with an Indigenous community. It will feature fresh produce, full-service meat and bakery departments, and custom artwork by four local Indigenous artists. Store manager Beverley Sousa brings 24 years of experience with the banner.
