Four friends launch smash burger truck in Georgetown to instant acclaim
The Yoyo's Burgers truck, started by four neighbours, has drawn long lineups since its October launch.
GEORGETOWN · A new smash burger truck launched by four friends in Georgetown, Ontario, has become an instant local sensation, drawing long lineups and high praise. Yoyo's Burgers opened in October after months of recipe testing and has already earned a 4.9-star rating from 180 Google reviews in just three weeks. The founders, James Link and his neighbours Wojtek, Joe and Mark, started the business after discussing the idea over beers in a garage last spring. They say their community served as willing taste testers to perfect their signature patty, which blends beef with lamb.
"[We're] just four guys who take burgers seriously," Link said. The group, who are all neighbours on the same street, decided to go into the burger business together in the spring of 2026. Link noted that while many ideas conceived over beers fade, "Yoyo's Burgers was only just getting started." They experimented for months, using their community as "willing guinea pigs" to get their smash burger recipe just right before finally launching.
Link said they knew they had succeeded when their test nights "stopped being about taking notes and started being about who got seconds." On the truck's opening weekend, the lineup stretched across the entire parking lot. Some customers have declared Yoyo's Burgers the best they have ever tried. Even now, lengthy lineups on weekends are a constant occurrence, not a rarity.
The burger uses Triple A Alberta beef ground fresh at Georgetown's own Pat's Prime Cuts. Their secret weapon is a percentage of lamb. "That's where the flavour and the fat content come from," Link explained. The patties are always sandwiched between Cobs Bakery buns and can be ordered in multiples of one, two, four, six, or, for the especially bold, 15 patties. The menu also features other treats like fries and dirty sodas. Yoyo's Burgers is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 325 Guelph St. in Halton Hills. James Link emphasized that none of the four founders come from a restaurant empire, making their rapid success a surprise to them.
